Press Release Body: In Catzuquí, dreams can come true Launched on November 2007, the Alternative Channel video contest on sustainable development rewards the most compelling video uploaded to www.alternativechannel.tv. Alternative Channel members used the site’s rating system to sift through 600 entries, eventually nominating eight videos in each language (French and Spanish). A board of professionals from the communication, audiovisual and sustainable development sectors gathered at the Alternative Channel Forum to determine the winners. Among the judges were Marc Tessier, former President of France Télévision, and Aziyadé Poltier-Mutal from the United Nations Development Programme. Using judging criteria such as the videos’ persuasion, educational merit, values, rigor, relevance and originality, the judges decided to reward the Adsis foundation with the 8000€ prize. The video “Catzuquí, el paraíso de la cebolla” introduces the concrete actions of a development project lead by the foundation in a small and isolated village situated in Ecuador. The survival of the inhabitants depends on its vital access to water, but also to health, education…
Alternative Channel at the Global Eco-Forum The Global Eco-forum is this fall’s event dedicated to sustainable development and eco-innovation in Barcelona. On October 7th, 2008, the event is an opportunity to meet international renowned experts on sustainability. It will be closed by the Alternative Channel video contest award on sustainable development. From 7:30 pm, the event‘s programme will include an introduction to Alternative Channel and the video contest, an introduction to the Adsis foundation, screening of the winning video « Catzuquí, el paraíso de la Cebolla » (in the presence of the Directors Íria Saa and Marc Juan), and the presentation of the prize. At 8:00 pm, Alternative Channel invites you to a dining cocktail to celebrate the event and close the Global Eco-Forum.
